Each days orders are placed in a cooler on my front porch. There is a sheet to sign and an envelope for cash or check. Please make checks out to Jacquelyn Brinson. I also take Venmo, or PayPal via the Send Money to Friends and Family option at JAKQLIN@gmail.com. If you choose to use PayPal and do not send via send money to friends and family you will be responsible for the remaining balance on your order. There is an info sheet in the basket for you to take if you'd like, or I can send you a paper free version. If you are sick at time of pick up please let me know so I can make accommodations for you so sickness isn't passed on to other customers. Please refrigerate. I try my best to keep everything very clean and sterile, but please note that my products are produced in a kitchen that sometimes uses nuts, dairy and gluten.

Pick Up: Homemade elderberry syrups do not use preservatives, it is very important that you let me know if you can't make your pick up date/time so I may pass your order on to the next person in line. If this week doesn't end up being convenient for you you may contact me again when you're ready to pick up. Moving pick up time and date is no problem, if you skip your scheduled pickup without notification your order will be passed on to the next customer. At this time I cannot ship, but please check back as I am working to get shipments in place.
How long does Elderberry Syrup/Cough Syrup last: I generally recommend that customers buy our syrup with the plans to administer immediately, I urge that you do not keep on hand "just in case." Grapes and berries carry wild yeasts that can cause fermentation. Because I do not use preservatives my ingredients can ferment, even while refrigerated. I recommend that you do not shake, but slightly swirling every so often (not every time! you will speed up fermentation) the syrup if you need to. Elderberry Syrup should be used within 2-4 weeks of opening. That being said, I have had bottles last 6-12 months.
Elderberry Syrup Notes: Homemade Elderberry "Syrup" is more of a tonic than a traditional cough syrup. It thickens a bit as it is cooked down, and the added honey adds a slight viscosity to it as well. I do not use commercial thickeners, they would be an added cost to you, with little benefit. The benefit is in the elderberry and the vitamin c powerhouses that I add. The infant version is sweetened with organic coconut sugar and a bit of raw organic cane to offset the coconut taste. I chose coconut sugar due to a lower glycemic index, but the mix adds a pleasantry. The infant version is great for vegans, pregnant mamas, and those early days of breastfeeding.
Refill Station: I currently offer refills for $11 dollars per 16oz. The refill station is usually set up for one hour on Sundays (12:30) and Wednesdays (5pm), please check with me before arrival. Refills are made via a 16oz measuring cup and funnel. Please bring your clean bottle purchased from Brinsonfolks to refill. I ask that you and your family members are well and hands are washed or sanitized at time of refill. I provide hand purifier on the porch each day. During peak flu season I do this to protect you, my family and all of my customers. If you need a refill and are ill please let me know and we can work it out.
Anti-influenza virus effects of elderberry juice and its fractions.
The effect of Sambucol, a black elderberry-based, natural product, on the production of human cytokines: I. Inflammatory cytokines. (This is why I suggest that customers do not take elderberry syrup year around)
If you have an infant, or are pregnant or nursing: If you are pregnant, nursing or administering to a child under the age of one please ask me about my "safe" formula and speak to your healthcare provider before taking.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. If you love the syrup we'd love for you to pass our information on to friends and family. If you are not happy with my products let me know and I will try my best to make it right. Thanks for stopping in!
